Please, again I need to remind you that this is part of the Wincustomize/Joe User crossover which is enshrined policy of the sites' [plural] owners, and thus is not arguable as 'inappropriate'.
For those of us out there who may be 'skinning-centric' as opposed to Joe User Bloggers [only] it's probably politic to be reminded that Larry's work/position is one of the important factors in 'our' Skinning site's success/viability.
Perhaps many may be unaware of his untiring efforts with regards to warez/rip-site removal which benefits each and every skinner here [and elsewhere].
Now, when engaging in political/racial/religious debate it is paramount to remember that ONLY idiots attack the person, the intelligent/sage will attack the stance.
Feisty discussion is good, invective diatribe is not.
Let's all [at least] pretend we are not idiots...
pjdark...I'm sorry but perhaps I haven't made my point clear....it [this thread] IS in the right place.
This is not something open to contest.
Never confuse the perception of 'total wimp' with social tolerance. People are entitled to voice an opinion, and that is respected, provided it does not transgress site/community policy.
I'm pretty sure I saw here Frogboy clearly disagreeing with Larry's comments....and that is fair and proper. I too can disagree with them [either or both sides] ...that is the perogative of the intelligent considered opinion-holder.
What is important, however, is that if and when a contrary opinion is held it is projected/communicated in such a way as to not degrade the standing of the 'opponent'.
People who 'know me' would never classify me as a 'middleman'. I hold vehement opinions about many things, however when they may be seen as 'self-serving' I prefer to abstain from argumentative augmentation.
Others may call that being a 'wimp' ...I call it respect of/for others' opinions.
Now. what say we [all] get back to Larry's topic....
PJDark, you are crossing the line into personal attacks and unacceptable behavior. Posting priviledges will be suspsended if I see it again.
As for the topic itself: The category this is in is Internet. It has nothing to do with skinning. Neowin.net, for instance, has an automobile forum. It would be pretty ridiculous if someone were to argue that discussions on a Corvette didn't belong on a Windows technology site.
The article was about the contributions of Jews to the Internet in the category Internet. It is certainly on topic even if you don't like the topic. If you want to read only skinning or customization toipcs, then stick to those categories.
I have already made my own comments on this thread that outline my disagreements with the article itself -- I focus on the content of the article. Attacking the poster is unacceptable.
